Dr. Supriya Bhavnani

Dr. Supriya Bhavnani is a Co-Principal Investigator with the Child Development Group at Sangath, specialising in child development, neurodevelopmental disorders, and global mental health. She holds a PhD in Genetics from the University of Leicester and began her career at the National Brain Research Centre, receiving the INSPIRE Faculty Award and the Innovative Young Biotechnologist Award from the Government of India. Before joining Sangath in 2019, she held research and faculty roles at the Public Health Foundation of India.
Dr. Bhavnani co-leads major international projects such as STREAM (MRC, UK) and COINCIDE (Wellcome DBT India Alliance), focusing on scalable digital assessments and tools for early child development and mental health. Her previous work includes developing the gamified cognitive assessment DEEP and conducting critical research on autism pathways to care in India. She has published widely in leading journals, including Nature Medicine, Autism, JCPP, and EClinicalMedicine.
