Overview


The TransCare MedEd project aimed to understand what are the basic competencies a medical doctor should have to provide care that is sensitive and affirmative to transgender clients. These competencies were framed through a series of consultative workshops and a national conference.


Rationale


From 2014 there has been a series of policy developments in India towards making healthcare and medical education transgender-affirmative. However, there is a lack of foundational understanding of what constitutes trans-affirmative healthcare, especially within routine healthcare settings.

The project is completed.
