RM -Enhancing institutional research management capacity

Develop research management capacity in Sangath

Overview

This RM (Research Management) initiative is grounded in the need to build a robust research management infrastructure that not only improves compliance and operational efficiency, but also better supports and empowers researchers. By strengthening systems, tools, and capacity across the organisation, the project will foster a culture of excellence, enable smoother collaboration, and position Sangath for future research growth and sustainability. The RM grant seeks to streamline operations within the Office of Project Management (OPM) in Sangath, to implement effective change management strategies, which will lead to:

  • Strengthened post-award management processes, ensuring compliance and efficient project implementation,

  • Establishlishing a centralised grants database to facilitate access to funding opportunities, and

  • Capacity building initiatives to support staff and early career researchers.

Rationale

As Sangath’s research portfolio continues to grow in scale and complexity, strengthening research support services has become essential to ensure projects are implemented efficiently, compliantly, and with consistent quality. Currently, gaps in research management processes can create avoidable administrative burdens for teams, limit access to timely support, and reduce the organisation’s ability to plan strategically across programmes.
