Dr. Urvita Bhatia
Research Fellow, ARG, Sangath

Urvita Bhatia is a Research Fellow at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. She is a psychologist and clinical researcher working at Sangath and has focused her efforts on interventional research since more than a decade.
She completed her PhD at Oxford Brookes University, which was focussed on the development of a sports-mediated adolescent substance use prevention intervention. Her research and clinical interests span exploring the nature of mental health and substance use related conditions, leveraging community resources for preventive and treatment approaches, and designing and evaluating complex interventions to promote mental health and wellbeing. Her work spans adolescent and adult mental health, with particular interests in substance use and gender-based violence, and responses centred on strengthening systems of care in low-resource contexts.
