Reetabrata Roy

Implementation Scientist

Child Development Group, Sangath

Supporting families and caregivers to give young children the best start in life has been at the heart of Roy’s work. Since 2005, he has worked extensively in public health research and program implementation across low-resource settings in India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and West Africa.

Roy has conceptualised and led large-scale research studies, developing scalable interventions focused on the first 1,000 days of life. His work includes planning and managing trials in compliance with global Good Clinical Practice standards, training and leading large field teams, and conducting advanced data analysis. Over the years, he has built strong international collaborations and worked closely with governments at both local and national levels.

At Sangath, Roy co-leads programmes that design and test universal early childhood interventions delivered through community settings by existing system-level workers. He also serves as the Director of one of South Asia’s largest autism trials and leads a novel detection-to-care implementation programme for children with neurodevelopmental disorders in the region.

Roy holds a postgraduate degree in Health Management and is a Fellow of the Public Health Field Leader Fellowship programme, with specialised training in epidemiology. He is currently pursuing his doctoral studies at the University of Manchester, where his research focuses on “Bridging research to reality using implementation science: Architecting systems for universal child wellbeing.”
