Ameya Bondre
Director of Research, Sangath

Ameya Bondre is a public health researcher with nearly 15 years of experience in community-based observational, health systems and implementation research across urban and rural India. He currently leads the mental health research portfolio at Sangath, Bhopal, and implements projects in partnership with Harvard Medical School, AIIMS-Bhopal, NIMHANS, and Madhya Pradesh National Health Mission.
As Principal Investigator, he oversees initiatives on integrating depression care in rural primary care, and promoting school adolescent mental health. With expertise in both quantitative and qualitative methods, Ameya has published widely in global health journals.
He is a public health graduate from Johns Hopkins University with prior clinical training (MBBS), and with his work, pursuing a PhD at the University of Geneva. Recognised by TEDx (2018), Yale, MIT Solve (2019 cohort), World Bank and NIHR-UK (2024), Ameya blends public health insight and a commitment to advance equitable, scalable mental health care in underserved settings.
