Institutional Review Board

At Sangath, we place great emphasis on ensuring the highest standards of ethics in research. Our Institutional Review Board (IRB) follows the National Ethical Guidelines for Biomedical and Health Research Involving Human Participants (2017). Independent Trial Steering Committees, Data Monitoring and Ethics Committees oversee our trials, and we seek Health Ministry Screening Committee’s (HMSC) approval for all our international collaborative research projects.

 

The Sangath Institutional Review Board is provisionally registered with the Department of Health Research, Govt. of India since Dec 2022, EC/NEW/INST/2022/3063.

STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURES

The Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) aim to define the procedures that the IRB will follow to ensure quality, consistency and transparency in the ethics review and approval of research proposals, and the monitoring of ongoing research at Sangath. These SOPs are based on ICMR’s ethical guidelines for biomedical research.
