his project was a fruitful collaboration between the Rotary Foundation, the Rotary clubs of Porvorim (Goa) and Rosendale (UK) and Sangath.
To develop a training manual for teachers to help them tackle behavioral, learning and emotional problems in school children. The project was implemented from December 1999 to September 2000.
Four schools from the Bardez taluka were selected to participate in the project. Initially, focus group discussions with class teachers from these schools provided us with information about common problems teachers encounter at the classroom level, in particular learning and behavioral difficulties.
From these discussions a user friendly manual Teacher’s Toolkit was put together by the Sangath team to help the teacher to identify and tackle developmental, behavioral and emotional problems in school children and refer those requiring specialised help.
