Sangath hosted the dissemination meeting of its work through the Beyond Boundaries project at the Nanu Resort and Spa, Betalbatim Beach on February 24, 2018. The project, implemented in April 2015 with support from Colorcon Asia Pvt. Ltd., Verna, has worked with over 25 schools in south Goa supporting them to become more inclusive of diversity. With the completion of the third year, Sangath all set to take its work forward in helping schools create an enabling learning environment for children.

Mrs. Annuradha Joshi – the Goa State Commissioner for Disability, Chief Guest, enlightened the audience about the provisions of the recently notified Rights of People with Disabilities Act-2016 in her keynote address. The Guest of Honour, Mr. Nagaraj Honnekeri – the Director of State Council of Education and Training-Goa, highlighted the efforts of the Government to train teachers and provide support for inclusive education in Goa. Percy Cardozo – Lead of the Beyond Boundaries project, presented the 3-year long journey of the project highlighting Sangath’s efforts at helping schools create enabling environments through the use of research-based methodologies. Mr. Waman Pedneker – the Site Director of Colorcon Asia Pvt. Ltd., Verna, applauded Sangath’s efforts and said that the Company is always open to provide support to organizations and government agencies in their efforts to improve educational access to the marginalized.

The meeting was attended by heads of the schools, teachers, special educators and management representatives which included Fr. Zeferino D’Souza, the Secretary of the Diocesan Society of Education, Goa, Mrs. Genesis D’ Silva of Adarsh Seva Samiti.
